February 23, 2006 The St. Paul Business and Professional Women (BPW) has selected Sheldon Johnson as the winner of the 2006 Legislator of the Year Award. Johnson was presented with the award at the organization's February 22 meeting. "I'm truly honored by the award," Johnson said. "As the father of two daughters, I appreciate the work the BPW is doing on behalf of women and Minnesota families." BPW is a national, non-partisan organization with local chapters in all 50 states. The group focuses on issues related to working women, including equal pay for equal work, quality child care, education, health care and eliminating violence against women. The group is made up of women from various professional and business backgrounds. Past recipients of the award include Rep. Mindy Greiling, of Roseville, Sen. Ellen Anderson (St. Paul), Rep. Alice Hausman (St. Paul), Sen. Linda Berglin (Minneapolis), Rep. Nora Slawik (Maplewood) and Sen. Becky Loury (Kerrick). |
